Helping Friends/Loved Ones Who Are Suicidal Or In Abusive Situations / Question
Published: December 16, 2003

Dear TeenHealthFX,

Hi, I had told my guidance counselor that my ex-boyfriend had called me and told me he was suicidal. But he doesn't go to my school so my counselor called his school counselor and told her what was going on now I am scared he is going to hate me but I just want him to know I am worried about him. I just hope I did it before he did something stupid like ending his life.

Dear Told My Guidance Counselor My BF Was Suicidal,

TeenHealthFX knows that you did the absolutely right thing by telling your guidance counselor. You showed that you are a courageous & mature person by being able to reach out to tell someone. By telling an adult, you may have prevented your ex-boyfriend from hurting or killing himself. Hopefully, he will now get the professional help he needs to feel better.
