Dear Want To Live Happy Life,

TeenHealthFX is really concerned about you and knows that it must be very hard to feel so unhappy with your life that you think about killing yourself all the time. It sounds like you may be suffering from depression. To stop this cycle, you must reach out and tell someone who can help you get professional help. Talk to your parents about how you are suffering. You can get the conversation started by showing them your question to us. They can help you find a professional who can evaluate and treat you.  You can also talk to a trusted adult such as a teacher, counselor or school nurse or your doctor. Each can help you talk with your parents and help you find treatment.

If you think you might hurt yourself or are afraid of your impulses, call 9-1-1 or go to your nearest hospital emergency room for help. If you live in northern New Jersey you can call the Atlantic Health Systems Crisis Hotline at 973-540-1400 for direct assistance. Outside this area call the Suicide & Crisis Hotline at 1-800-999-9999, 24 hours, 7 days a week.

If you need help to find a therapist in northern New Jersey, contact the ACCESS Center at Atlantic Behavioral Health at 888.247.1400. You can also log onto the SAMSHA website for referrals and information if you live outside of our area.
