Dear Waterpolo Teaching Methods,

TeenHealthFX is very concerned about this situation because what your water-polo instructor did was wrong and what he said was not true – he in no way has any right or any justification to use sexual touching as a supposed way to make you “less stressed out” or prepare you for a game. Your instructor was basically using the power and influence he has in being your teacher for his own gain and gratification – and what he did was completely wrong.

FX strongly recommends that you tell a parent immediately about what happened to you to ensure that your instructor is not in the position to do this to you, or any other girl, again. Your instructor will most likely face legal consequences for what he has done – but FX wants to stress to you that this is not your fault. Your instructor, alone, is completely responsible for his actions and is therefore responsible for the consequences that come with them. He also clearly has a problem and will most likely not stop this terribly inappropriate behavior until other adults intervene.

FX is terribly sorry about what happened to you here, and that you were taken advantage of by this instructor. But, once more, we want to stress the importance of your telling someone immediately of what happened so that you will not be in this position again with this instructor and so that measures can be taken so he cannot do this to you or anyone else again.

For more information or further help with what happened to you, you can also contact the Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network (RAIN) at 1-800-656-HOPE (4673), 24 hours, 7days a week.
