Anger / Question
Published: February 25, 2009
Dear TeenHealthFX,
Lately at school and with friends I have been angry. See my best friend is a brat and complains about everything. I mean I love him like my brother but he gets me so angry. He brags to me and is an arrogant snob. What makes me angry most is the girlfriend situation. He almost cried about not having a girlfriend. He also asked out the girl I was going to ask out and guess what he did? He cried and the girl had so much pity on him and they dated but never talked in person. I feel like he is a back stabber but he is my best friend. I feel one of my other friends is going to extreme lengths not to talk to me. He only hangs out with his one friend and skates the whole time. I now want to learn to skateboard so we make our relationship as good as it was. The school situation is bad also. I'm in eight grade and hate junior high. I mean last year I went into an angry depression because of my suppressed rage at my parents for splitting up. My grades went down to F's even though I am usually a straight A student. I hate my homeroom teacher so much. She doesn't teach us anything. She lets people get away with everything too. My one friend said pu$$y yesterday and she just told him to stop yelling. There is a kid in my class who gets away with everything. He has hit the teacher with things and has sworn in class and none of my teachers do anything. I do one thing and all hell breaks loose. My home room teacher can't teach. My friends and I have proven her wrong before. She only looks out of the book and is the stupidest teacher ever. I have so much rage with the kids at my school to. I hate all small children. I find them obnoxious and annoying. It has gotten to the point where I've screamed at them. The kids my age are rude, stupid, and obnoxious hillbillies. I live in some hick town where everyone talks about farming. This makes me so annoyed and angry. They are rude to all the kids who are smart. They are very rude to me about my weight and make fun of me from time to time.

Dear Constantly Feeling Anger And Rage,
TeenHealthFX is concerned about the amount of anger and rage you feel on, what sounds like, a fairly consistent basis. The extent of your anger may be due to a mood disorder, such as depression or bipolar disorder, but it could also be due to environmental factors, such as your parents’ divorce and being made fun of by your peers. FX thinks that it is very important for you to seek out help from a trained mental health professional. A therapist could help you to understand what is contributing to your anger, work with you to develop an effective treatment plan that will help to reduce the intensity and frequency of your angry moods, help you to find healthy outlets for your anger, and help your parents understand ways in which they can be more supportive and helpful to you with some of the issues you are dealing with (such as their divorce or conflicts with peers).
