Depression / Question
Published: October 6, 2009
Dear TeenHealthFX,
This isn't a question but it is important. I am 13 yrs old and have had severe depression for most of my life. I've overdosed several times and thought badly of myself since about second grade. So I turned to drugs. But it made me feel worse. Then I got sent to rehab and my selfesteem got better and better. I'm writing this to all the people who have been teased about their weight or their appearance. Just learn that you are a beautiful person no matter what others say. Remember that your family loves you and so does your higher power. Whoever that maybe for you. Mine is God. I know he loves me and now I can finally be happy with who I am. I know you can't post everything that comes in, but I think this may help some people in many different situations. With love in my heart I hope this may save someones life someday.

FX thinks that you made some great points in terms of dealing with depression – to seek out professional help for yourself when needed, to find ways to feel better about yourself and improve self-esteem, to make sure you have supports in your life and people to lean on, and to figure out what/who can give you faith and motivation to keep going when you feel down – these are all excellent things that our readers can keep in mind.
FX commends the hard work you have obviously done to get yourself to a better place emotionally. We hope that you feel proud of yourself, and that you will use the tools you have been developing to successfully deal with any future bumps in the road and to keep yourself on the path towards an even greater sense of peace and happiness in life.
