Signed: Spanking Is More Of A Rubbing

Dear Spanking Is More Of A Rubbing,

You need to tell someone immediately what has been happening to you. If your mother is not available, tell a relative, a neighbor or any adult that you trust. What your father is doing to you is very wrong and indicates that he has a serious problem containing his sexual urges and lacks appropriate sexual boundaries. He most likely will not stop this behavior until he is caught and learns to take responsibility for the damage he has caused you.

The most important thing to remember is that you did nothing wrong. A man whose job it was to protect you abused your body and trust. If your father is arrested and prosecuted it is because of his actions and not because you told. He is not the victim here, you are!

Being sexually assaulted by a family member is extremely traumatic and can cause a wide range of emotional experiences. There are many trained therapists out there who specifically are trained to treat victims of sexual abuse. TeenHealthFX believes that therapy is a good place to start as you learn to put your life back together. Family therapy is also very helpful since incest can have a tremendous impact on everyone is the house. There are also support group for survivors of sexual abuse. The groups can be especially helpful since many of the participants in the groups have been in similar situations and can share with you, how they have learned to cope.

If you need help finding a therapist in northern New Jersey, you can call the Access Center from Atlantic Behavioral Health at 888.247.1400. Outside this area you can contact, Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network (RAIN) 1-800-656-HOPE (4673), 24 hours, 7days a week or online at www.rainn.org
