Dear TeenHealthFX,

I have a lot of problems and can't deal with them all but I don't like talking to other people about them so how do I deal?

Dear Don't like Talking about My Problems,

 

TeenHealthFX realizes that some problems are just too personal to share but often times talking out any situation can remedy the problem and its stress. TeenHealthFX is concerned that you are having a lot of problems and "can't deal" with them. From the sounds of your question, FX believes you really need to discuss these problems with someone.

 

Although you may not like sharing private thoughts with others, talking to a trusted friend or adult can often help. It is important to verbalize your problems and concerns to help you get a grasp on them. Solutions often arise just from talking and expressing your feelings. It may be hard to start baring your soul to another at first. Perhaps you should try keeping a journal. Putting your thoughts on paper will help you see them clearer. Then you can sit down with a trusted friend, adult or relative and start by just talking about one problem. As you gain confidence and develop trust, you can then impart more to your listener. Talking out your problems will give you the insight of others who have either been in your position or can offer you a point of view that you have not considered.

 

Sometimes talking to a friend just is not enough and you may need to discuss some of these problems with a therapist or counselor. This too, is an okay thing to do. You may feel a little more comfortable with a therapist than a friend because this person does not know you and you have no connection with them. If you are interested in seeing a therapist, speak to your parents about getting you in touch with these services.

Although you did not mention it, sometimes people who have a lot of problems and feel overwhelmed and alone think about suicide.
