Dear Future Radiographer,
Radiographer's are certified and can produce quality x-rays, pictures and other recording materials that allow doctors to diagnose and treat diseases and other medical conditions.
With the medical field changing so drastically, it is hard to tell how radiographers will be affected. In, Northern New Jersey, there are job opening for radiographers in the paper. In your area, you may want to speak with someone in the radiology department at your college. They usually keep statistics from the past few years as to how many people graduated and how many are employed.
The companies hiring radiographers are looking for the right person with the right experience. Radiographers who further their education, get other certifications, and who are crossed trained in other medical areas are in the most demand. These certifications include mammography, CAT scan, MRI, EKG and venipuncture training. This field is constantly improving and it is important to learn the new technology as it comes out.
When choosing your future career path, remember that it is important to pick something you like to do. Usually if you like what you're doing, you will be good at it. This means you will be more marketable in the workplace.
Good luck with your decision!
