Dear Number 1 Death For Teenagers,

Auto accidents are the leading cause of death among American teenagers. According to the Center For Disease Control 5,060 young people ages 15-19 lost their lives in 1998 as a result of a motor vehicle related injury and many of these involved alcohol.

Many states have reacted to these alarming statistics by adopting graduated licensing laws. The idea behind this is that older graduated driving laws allows young drivers to gain critical experience behind the wheel in lower risk settings before driving in more difficult environments. According to the National Safety Council 1999 Injury Facts, 16 year old drivers have 3 times higher crash risk than 18 year olds, and 7 times higher crash risk than 25 year olds.

Finally, TeenHealthFX would like to say that it is cool for every body to Wear Your Seat Belt, it can and will save your life.
