Hairy Situations: Too Much, Too Little & Shaving / Question
Published: August 15, 2001

Dear TeenHealthFX,

Help! My nose hair seems to be slowly coming up on the outer rim of the bottom part of my nose! I am afraid this is going to turn boys off and none of them know yet b/c its summer and I haven't seen them but should I pluck it? What should I do if I start to grow a noticeable mustache?

Dear Growing Nose Hair,

TeenHealthFX doesn't think you will be growing a mustache any time soon. Some people naturally have longer nose hair than others, just like some people's hair grows faster than others. This is normal.

If you do not want the guys to see your nose hairs there is a simple solution. You can trim them, which works well for most people. The scissors that work best are a small pair of barber scissors. They have small pointy tips that are easier to move around in the tiny space known of your nostril. Some stores also sell "nasal hair trimmers". They are small, round electric razors made especially for nasal hair. Be careful when trimming your nose hairs because you would not want to cut yourself.
