Pee & Urine Issues - Pain, Bed-Wetting, Amount & Frequency / Question
Published: December 10, 2001
Dear TeenHealthFX,
Recently I have been having a lot of pain in my lower abdomen and two months ago I was unable to urinate for 24 hours. This month the same thing happened again and in both situations the symptoms started to come a week and a half before my scheduled period. My other symptoms were a bloated look, my stomach was fully descended, pain in my lower abdomen, difficulty urinating, lower back pain, and a spasm in my lower abdomen with a low grade fever. Can you please tell me why these symptoms are happening and any possibilities of what they could mean?

Dear Pain In Lower Abdomen,
TeenHealthFX cannot diagnose you over the Internet and strongly suggests that you see a doctor about your symptoms. While it is quite normal that prior to your period you can have other side effects like bloating and lower back pain it is not necessary to suffer from these side effects. Your other symptoms need to be checked out as well as they could be caused by any number of things, like an infection.
Call your doctor for an appointment as soon as possible and describe your symptoms. If you don?t have a doctor and live in Northern New Jersey, you can call the Adolescent/Young Adult Center for Health 973.971.6475 or Girl's Street, A Young Women's Health Program at 908.522.2555.
