Mouth And Teeth / Question
Published: February 12, 2003

Dear TeenHealthFX,

I am an 18 year old female. I usually get blisters inside my mouth that are very painful. Not on my lip but inside my mouth. I've been getting them since I was 9. I am not sexually active nor do I particitpate in sexual activity so I'm sure it's not an S.T.D. The dentist never says anything about them and they can get so bad I can't even talk and sometimes cry. Please answer this and how can I get rid of them because they hurt so bad? Thanks

Dear Blister Inside Of Mouth,

TeenHealthFX is sorry to hear that you are dealing with this - these blisters sound terribly painful. Unfortunately we are unsure of what is causing the blisters and are unable to diagnose you over the Internet.  What we can say though is that you should in no way have to live with them.

Your blisters could be caused by any number of things. It is important that you see a doctor who can evaluate you and recommend a method of treatment. If you do not have a physician and live in the northern New Jersey area, you can contact the Adolescent/Young Adult Center for Health at 973.971.6475.
