Published: November 28, 2006

Dear TeenHealthFX,

I keep feeling like I'm going to pass out and get dizzy if I don’t eat every 2 hours, then when I eat I drink a huge bottle of water and then... well the effects of water, the school nurse says I might be a diabetic?!?! Any help or advice

Signed: Could I Be A Diabetic?

Dear Could I Be A Diabetic?,

TeenHealthFX is unable to give any kind of definitive medical diagnoses over the internet, and suggests that you schedule an appointment with your family doctor or an adolescent medicine specialist so that it can be determined whether or not you are diabetic (or if there is some other medical issue going on).

If you don't have a doctor and live in northern New Jersey, you can call the Adolescent/Young Adult Center for Health in Morristown 973-971-6475 or the Adolescent/Young Adult Center for Health in Summit at 908-522-5757 for an appointment. Outside this area contact your local teen health center

If you would like more information on diabetes, including a list of related symptoms, please read our answer to “Am I At Risk For Diabetes” under the “Diseases, Conditions, and Concerns” section of the “Health And Illness Category” of the website.
