Eye Issues / Question

Dear TeenHealthFX,

I have these bags under my eyes - they are all saggy. Could it be from rubbing my eyes so much and stretching out my skin?

Dear Skin Stretcher,

It sounds to TeenHealthFX that by stretching your skin, you may have caused the collagen and elastin that lies beneath the skin's surface to also be stretched. When this material becomes stretched it loses its normal elasticity. Without elasticity, the skin droops and wrinkles easily. Like any elastic, over time it naturally begins to wear out and that is why elderly people have more wrinkles. The sun's UV rays can also damage skin and cause pre-mature aging in the same manner.

TeenHealthFX recommends that you see a dermatologist to evaluate and recommend the best course of treatment for the skin under your eyes. TeenHealthFX cannot recommend using Retin-A-Micro or any other specific medication to alleviate this problem. Only a doctor can tell you what specific product will work best for you.

It is important is that you make every effort to not stretch you skin any further. Skin is a sensitive organ that can easily be damaged.

As for looking tired all the time, the best way to get rid of that look is to get adequate sleep, enough fluid intake and proper nutrition.
