Dear Feel Bad - Swollen Tonsils, Tired & Drained,

TeenHealthFX cannot provide a diagnosis, but since you are feeling so bad FX does suggest that you seen a physician to determine why you are experiencing these symptoms. If you live in northern NJ and need to find a doctor, you can contact the Adolescent/Young Adult Center for Health at (973) 971-6475 or call your local hospital for a referral..

The symptoms you have described are common indicators of mononucleosis, Strep throat and many other illnesses. Following a thorough exam that may include a throat culture and blood work, a healthcare provider may prescribe medication. It is imperative that you finish the entire course of medication to obtain optimal results. You may also be advised to get plenty of rest, avoid strenuous physical activity, and drink plenty of fluids. Not only is this good advice for when you are feeling sick, but all the time.

Check out "Mono" for more specifics about this illness. Please see a healthcare professional as soon as possible, so you can get on the road to recovery!
