Aches & Pains / Question
Published: June 9, 2008

Dear TeenHealthFX,

What could it be when the testicles are very red, swollen, burning, can't lie nor sit due to lots of pain, there’s pain all to the rectum. Don't know what type of doctor to go to. This has been going on for about 2 months.

Signed: Can't Lie Down or Sit Due to Testical Pain

Dear Can't Lie Down or Sit Due to Testical Pain,

Two months is a long time to deal with what sounds like a really painful condition. TeenHealthFX recommends that you call your Pediatrician or Internist right away and make an appointment. He/she can do the initial examination and either determine what the problem is or refer you to a specialist that he/she feels would best serve your needs.

Since the problem has persisted for two months TeenHealthFX really encourages you to act on this right away. Knowing what is causing the problem will relieve the anxiety that you most likely are experiencing and allow your doctor to start you on a course of treatment so that you can begin to feel better.

If you don't have a doctor and live in northern New Jersey, you can call the Adolescent/Young Adult Center for Health at 973-971-6475 for an appointment. Outside this area contact your local teen health center or Planned Parenthood.

Signed: TeenHealthFX
