Dear Pain And Numbness In My Arm, Hand And Fingers,

TeenHealthFX cannot make any kind of accurate diagnosis over the web in terms of what is causing the numbness you are experiencing. FX thinks that it is very important for you to meet with a medical health professional about this right away so that you can find out the cause of this numbness and receive any necessary treatment.

It is possible that the numbness is due to some kind of peripheral neuropathy (meaning a disorder of, or damage to, the peripheral nervous system) or Lyme disease. If someone was bitten by an animal and then experiences numbness it could be a sign of rabies. These are just a few of many possibilities – without a complete medical exam it would impossible to know what the issue is. So, again, meet with your doctor as soon as possible.

If you don't have a doctor and live in northern New Jersey, you can call the Adolescent/Young Adult Center for Health at 973-971-6475 for an appointment or contact your local teen health center. You can also contact your insurance company for a list of in-network providers.
