Questionable Relationships / Question
Published: February 28, 2007

Dear TeenHealthFX,

I was at my best friend’s house the other night and after our friends went home we went in the basement with my best friend’s older brother (by 2 years) and his 3 friends.  They were all drunk, my friend and I did not get drunk only a few sips.  Here is a thing that I have a question on, my friend's brother's friend was all over me that night, but his girlfriend was there too in the bathroom making out with some one else.  U could tell he was upset but he was saying he did not care he kept putting his hands up my shirt and down and everywhere and kept asking me to make out with me but I was saying no cause he has a girlfriend, I kind of like this guy by him saying I amazing and all this but I don't know what to do when I see him? Please help

Dear Love Triangle,

TeenHealthFX does not know what it going on between this guy and his girlfriend with both of them together at the same gathering and being all over all other people – but whatever is going on, it is certainly not healthy and we strongly suggest that you not involve yourself in it. FX appreciates that it can feel wonderful to have someone be attentive to us or to say positive and sweet things to us. However, from what you wrote FX is having trouble trusting what this guy’s motives are with you. It looks like he is not able to be in a committed, respectful relationship with someone else in general, or he is looking to get back at his girlfriend for making out with someone else, or both – and this is not a healthy person to be getting yourself involved with. FX suggests that when you see him that you clearly convey to him through actions, words or both that you are not going to be anything more than friends and that you not participate with him in a romantic or physical relationship of any kind. You deserve to have someone who can say wonderful things to you who is single and who has good and respectful intentions towards you.

FX would also like to stress the importance of not placing yourself in any kind of difficult situation in terms of being alone or with just one other friend with older guys who are intoxicated. FX certainly does not want to see you or your friend taken advantage of in any way, whether through manipulation or force – so please be careful about the social situations you put yourself in.
