Dear Red Faced And Embarrassed,

TeenHealthFX wants you to know that you are not weird. It is very common for young girls to have a crush on an older man, especially one who plays a significant role in their life such as a teacher. Many male teachers probably have experienced this with their students and understand that it is part of the wide range of emotions that occur as you make your way into adulthood. Having crushes is very common in adolescence and is experienced by both males and females. Now that you know this is normal, try and relax when you are in this teacher's presence and chances are the blushing will stop.

Just a cautionary note, the overwhelming majority of teachers are dedicated professionals who are committed to their students and have their best interests at heart. Unfortunately there are individuals who put their own needs and desires first, even if it means causing damage to a younger person. Having a crush in no way implies that you are seeking to have relationship with a teacher or any adult for that matter. If an older person makes advances towards you or makes you feel uncomfortable in any way you should let your parents or an adult that you trust know what is happening
