Questionable Relationships / Question
Published: August 13, 2002

Dear TeenHealthFX,

I am a 13-year-old boy. My sister is 15. She has been sort of forcing me to have sex with her. I have seen her naked and she gives me loads of blowjobs. I enjoy it but I'm sure that it aint normal. Is it cool to continue this affair?

Dear Affair With Sister,

No, it is most definitely not "cool." TeenHealthFX wants you to stop this affair. It is not healthy emotionally for either of you. What your sister is doing is wrong and is not okay. Having a sexual relationship with a family member is called incest. Incest is unhealthy for everyone. It sounds like you may know that this affair is not "cool" by just asking the question.

Once you stop this relationship you may have many mixed emotions. You may feel hurt, betrayed and angry. You may feel ashamed but it is important to tell your parents. They may be angry at first but they will come to understand that your sister needs specialized counseling. This situation may disrupt your family life and create tension. It will be beneficial for you to be in counseling along with your parents to deal with the consequences of this relationship. If you are afraid to approach your parents try talking to a trusted adult or counselor first. However, you must stop this relationship now, prolonging this affair will only make matters worse.

You must remember that although you enjoyed this affair at times, your sister took advantage of you and needs to seek professional help. Siblings and family members develop a special trust, one that your sister violated. You may be scared and want to remain silent but it is important to speak out so that you can begin healing.
