Dear TeenHealthFX,

I like a guy who is three years older than me. He is really sweet and talks to me a lot. We see each other a lot of places like dances, parties, and different activities. Should age really matter?

Dear Does Age Matter,

TeenHealthFX cannot say whether or not three years is too big of difference in age - especially since we do not know how old you are. If you are 12 and he is 15 then it is a concern due to differing social situations and expectations. If you are sure that the feelings between you and this boy are mutual than age should not matter. However, you must consider all of the pros and cons of the situation before committing to this person like, is he too mature for you, do you share the same friends, do you have a lot in common, and it may not hurt to consider your parents' feelings as well. But the most important thing to remember is if you feel comfortable with him. If you enjoy being together, then try remaining friends for a while and see how things go first before giving your heart over to him. You have plenty of time to find out if this boy is right for you. Age will not matter if he is the right one and (neither will waiting for a while).
