Not Satisfied With Being Single / Question
Published: July 6, 2001
Dear TeenHealthFX,
I'm 14, and my three best friends are guy magnets! I've had one boyfriend in my whole life. Sometimes it's hard to see guys drooling over my friends and they don't pay attention to me. Any suggestions?

Dear Guyless,
It must be very hard for you to see that your friends are getting all the attention and that you feel you are left without any. TeenHealthFX realizes that at 14 it is very important to be liked by others. You and many of your friends are discovering an attraction to the opposite sex and having a boyfriend seems to be a way of measuring your social achievement.
If you really look at it, this practice says nothing about you as a person. Try looking at the overall picture, you probably have many good qualities and in the end that is what is most important. Try to focus on the things you like about yourself and not on the negative. Concentrate on sports, schoolwork, or anything you do that makes you feel great about yourself - the boyfriends will eventually be part of the picture.
