Penis & Testicle Concerns / Question
Published: April 30, 2002
Dear TeenHealthFX,
I am new to sex and it would appear that my energetic start to it all has come with a price. The ligament on the underside of my penis (connecting the glands to the shaft) looks like it has been damaged. I haven't been circumcised and as a result it is hard to keep it aired and immobile. It has been awhile now and it doesn't look like it is going to heal completely. It is fine after 2 days or so but after I have sex again it's extremely raw and tender. Quite strong pain if any contact is made. Any thoughts?

Dear Penis Ligament Damage,
TeenHealthFX's main thought is that you should refrain from having sex until you find out what is causing the soreness in your penis. If it is ligament damage then you need to allow proper time for it to heal. The problem here is that you cannot be certain what is causing your situation until a doctor has examined you.
If you are afraid to enlist your parent's help, you can contact your local teen health center or Planned Parenthood for help. These agencies can see without parental consent and for little or no cost.
TeenHealthFX would like to take this opportunity to remind you and all our readers that if you are sexually active you need to practice safer sex. This not only includes protecting against pregnancy but sexually transmitted diseases (STD) as well.
