Female Body Concerns / Question
Published: April 30, 2002

Dear TeenHealthFX,

Recently I have found a pimple sore in my vaginal area. It would hurt when I wiped, but other then that I didn't know it was there. It has been there three days and today after I wiped, I noticed a little bit of green discharge! What could it be? I am 19 years old but never had any type of sexual contact, so it couldn't be an STD, could it? I am interested in hearing what you have to say before going to a doctor!

Dear Pimple Sore In Vaginal Area,

If you have not had any type of sexual contact - intercourse or otherwise - it would be unlikely that the bump you have is related to a sexually transmitted disease. Unfortunately, TeenHealthFX is unable to give any kind of accurate diagnosis over the internet of what it is, and suggests that you go to a doctor as soon as possible so that this can be properly diagnosed and treated. While you state that you have not had any kind of sexual contact, FX does recommend that you continue to abstain from any sexual activities until you have been evaluated by a physician.

If you don't have a doctor and live in northern New Jersey, you can call the Adolescent/Young Adult Center for Health at 973-971-6475 for an appointment or contact your local teen health center or Planned Parenthood. You can also contact Girl’s Street – A Young Woman’s Health Program – at 908.522.2555.
