Females: Your Period / Question
Published: April 30, 2002

Dear TeenHealthFX,

Me and my Boyfriend have had sex 10 times and we used spermicide and a condom each time. But I missed my period. Is there any possibility that he hit something and now I am not able to get my period?

Dear Possible He Hit Something? - No Period,

FX understands that missing your period can be quite scary. So your best bet is to get checked out. A teen health center can see you for sexual health reasons without your parent's consent and on a low/no cost basis. In Northern New Jersey, please call the Adolescent/Young Adult Center for Health at (973) 971.6475. Outside of New Jersey, please call your local Planned Parenthood.

TeenHealthFX is glad to hear that you and your boyfriend are making efforts to practice safer sex. However, there is always that slim possibility that you can still get pregnant. The only full proof method is abstinence. Since you are sexually active and have missed a period it is a good idea to see a doctor as soon as possible.

There may be circumstances beyond your sexual relationships that can be causing you to miss your period as well. So it is important that you consult a doctor for this reason also. It is highly unlikely that you have missed your period from your boyfriend hitting something during sex.

See a doctor soon.
