Dear AIDS From Kissing?,
For a detailed answer to this question see TeenHealthFX's response to HIV/AIDS & Kissing.
Here is some general information:
HIV is the virus that causes AIDS. It is transmitted in blood, semen, vaginal fluids and breast milk. The most common way the virus is passed on is through unprotected sex. Other ways include:
- Sharing needles or syringes with someone who has he virus.
- Being punctured with a needle contaminated with the virus. (Bear in mind tattooing and body piercing).
- Blood transfusions (very rare now)
- Getting HIV-infected blood, semen or vaginal secretions into open wounds or sores.
- Passed from a woman to her fetus during pregnancy or birth.
Remember if you are going to be sexually active, you need to practice safer sex.
