Penis & Testicle Concerns / Question
Published: May 1, 2002

Dear TeenHealthFX,

I asked the same question earlier, but I didn't get an answer. Anyway, I have a scar on the left side of my penis that has been there as long as I can remember. It hasn't caused any trouble or pain. It just seems to pull my sac up higher when my penis is erect. Could it just be something left over from circumcision or should I be concerned? By the way, I am 14 years old.

Dear Scar On Penis,

We apologize for not answering your question earlier. TeenHealthFX tries to answer questions as soon as they are submitted.

Without being able to examine the area, we are not able to make a diagnosis. It is possible that the scar is left over from circumcision. It is a good sign that it is not causing you any trouble or pain. However, for a more definitive answer, it would be a good idea to discuss this with your doctor.

If you do not have a doctor and you live in the Northern New Jersey area, you can call the Adolescent/Young Adult Center for Health at (973) 971.6475.
