Dear TeenHealthFX,

I have to do a report on genital warts. Can you help?

Signed: Report On Genital Warts

Dear Report On Genital Warts,

The Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) causes genital warts. It is one of the most common sexually transmitted diseases (STD) and is spread by intercourse and other sexual activities.

If you would like to known more about the virus check out TeenHealthFX's response to Can It Be HPV?.  Also do a search of TeenHealthFX using keyword "HPV".

If someone develops genital warts, they will need to be seen and treated by a doctor. A local teen clinic or Planned Parenthood can see you without parental permission and for little or no cost.

Finally, your local or school library would be a good place to start if you have to do a report.
