Sexually Transmitted Diseases / Question
Published: December 18, 2003

Dear TeenHealthFX,

Please help me. I have severe anal fissures and vaginal itching. My boyfriend gave me oral and that is when it all started. The fissures bleed, itch, burn and hurt. No doctor can help me diagnose it. I know it must be herpes. Please help me, I'm begging.

Dear Petrified - Severe Anal Fissures & Vaginal Itching,

We understand that you're concerned about the symptoms you've been experiencing. It sounds like you may have contracted a sexually transmitted disease; but unfortunately, TeenHealthFX cannot diagnose you over the Internet. We aren't sure why you are thinking a doctor can't diagnose what's going on with you - is it because you are embarrassed?? We are sure that if a doctor examines you they will be able to diagnose you and give you treatment in a professional manner. Although this might seem embarrassing, it's very important that you take care of yourself. If you do not have a doctor and you live in the Northern New Jersey area, you can call the Adolescent/Young Adult Center for Health at 973.971.6475 for an appointment. You can also try your local Planned Parenthood.
