Dear TeenHealthFX,
When having sex with my boyfriend it burns during and afterward until the next day. Also it leaks out afterwards.

Dear Burns During And After Sex,
The burning you are feeling during and after sex should be checked out by a doctor to rule out any kind of infection or irritation. Many STD's and infections cause a burning sensation, and this may be the source of your problem. However, the friction of intercourse may irritate the vaginal walls and explain the burning you describe. In either case, because you are sexually active and a physician should examine you.
In addition, TeenHealthFX is most concerned with your mention of "it" leaking out afterwards. If "it" refers to a mixture of vaginal secretion, semen, and sperm, then you are not practicing safe sex. This puts you at risk of getting pregnant, and it increases the chance that you will contract a sexually transmitted disease (STD).
Make an appointment today with your doctor and let the receptionist know that you are having some discomfort and need to be seen as soon as possible. You can go to a teen health center where you can be seen without your parent's permission and on a low/no cost basis. If you live in Northern New Jersey, please call the Adolescent/Young Adult Center For Health for an appointment at (973) 889.6350. In all other areas, please call your local Planned Parenthood.
