This is a very interesting question. The length of the vagina can vary from 8-10cm. If a woman's body has adequate estrogen stimulation the inner aspect of the vaginal tube appears as multiple circumferential folds called rugae. These folds allow for the remarkable ability of the vaginal vault to stretch as needed, for example, during sexual intercourse and childbirth.
