Penis & Testicle Concerns / Question
Published: June 3, 2003
Dear TeenHealthFX,
I'm a 14 year old male and need help. I have a really small lump on both my testicles. The bumps are so small they are more like indents. But I'm worried. What chance is this of being cancer? Also I have not hit puberty yet. Is this ok? My penis length if 3 and a half inches how much longer will it grow during puberty? And one more thing. I can't ejaculate, is this ok for someone with no pubic hair? Ok thanks I know it's a lot of questions but I really need to know and am very worried... Thanks

Dear 14 YO With Small Lumps On Both Testicles,
FX is glad you wrote to us with all these questions about your body - puberty can be a confusing time.
It is possible that the lumps which are concerning you are just a part of the shape of your testicles. However, unfortunately, there is no way for TeenHealthFX to tell what they are or make a diagnosis. If you have any concerns about your body, you should make an appointment with your doctor. If you do not have a doctor and you live in northern New Jersey, please call the Adolescent/Young Adult Center for Health at (973) 971.6475. If you live elsewhere, get in touch with your local adolescent health center or clinic.
As for your question about puberty, everyone goes through that process in their own time. TeenHealthFX encourages you to be patient. There is no way to predict how large your penis will grow - this depends on heredity. However, we want to encourage you not to worry too much about the size of your penis. This is something that varies from person to person, just like everything else about our bodies. We hear a lot of things about penis size (usually in relation to products that claim to be able to enlarge them), but the truth is that having a satisfying sexual relationship is not about the size of your penis, but what you do with it.
As for your last question, boys usually start ejaculating between the age of 11 and 15, although it is perfectly normal to start any time between ages 8 and 21. It is perfectly fine if you have not started yet; it is likely you will soon. It might happen for the first time in your sleep (this is called a wet dream) or while you are masturbating.
Again, if you have more concerns about your body, share them with your doctor.
Signed: TeenHealthFX
