Sexuality & Sexual Health: Miscellaneous / Question
Published: June 3, 2003

Dear TeenHealthFX,

I have seen on these "body modification" sites about how people inject saline into empty cavities in there bodies, such as the scrotom. It makes it like a big water bag. I would really like to try this. But I'm thinking that there are some negative health effects. Could you please enlighten me on this subject? Thanks.

Dear Body Modification Sites - Injecting Saline's,

TeenHealthFX does not recommend this procedure. In fact, it could be very dangerous. Non-medical personnel, such as yourself, should never inject themselves with substances that may be harmful. The possible and very real concerns include the risk of infection, permanent damage to your scrotum and testicles, and pain. Finally, you need to ask yourself if the pain, cost, and potential for illness or injury is worth a few hours of a more interesting looking genitalia?
