Dear TeenHealthFX,

I do not have sexual intercourse, but if a guy is touching my private parts, is that considered to be sexual activity and what are the risks of developing STDs?

Signed: Touching Private Parts - Sexual Activity?

Dear Touching Private Parts - Sexual Activity?,

TeenHealthFX is assuming and hoping that this guy is touching your private parts with your consent. Someone touching private parts, whether they are your own or someone else's is considered sexual activity. It is hard to tell from your letter if you are comfortable with this touching. If you are not, please get help! Talk to a trusted adult, teacher or your doctor.

About the risk of STD's (sexually transmitted diseases) - there is a small risk if one partner has an STD and touches their own genitals and then touches their partner's genitals. There is also a small risk of pregnancy if a male partner gets semen on his fingers and touches a female partner's genital area.
