Dear Giving Head - If You Do Are You A Virgin?,
This is an interesting question. A virgin is commonly understood as someone who has not had sexual intercourse. However, if virginity is an important concept to you, then some would argue that the most important definition is your personal definition of the word. To you, being a virgin may mean not having had intercourse, or it may include not having had sex of any kind (including oral sex).
The word "virgin" can be kind of problematic. For example, if we define losing one's virginity as having penetrative vaginal intercourse, does someone who only has sex with members of the same sex ever lose their virginity? People often get kind of stuck on the word "virgin." In truth, that word is not nearly as important as how we feel about our sexual experiences. What is most important is that each new sexual step is one you take only when you feel ready.
In addition, "giving head" can put you at risk for some STDs. You can lower this risk by talking to your partner(s) about safer sex, and using a barrier method (condom or dental dam) if necessary. Whatever kind of sex you have be sure to practice it safely
