Penis Size / Question
Published: October 17, 2001
Dear TeenHealthFX,
I am a 17-year-old male. I have been able to ejaculate for maybe 2 years now but my penis size hasn't grown the least bit. Well its 6 inches erect but tiny as hell not erect. I have pubic hair and very, very little armpit hair. I'm 17 though! Also, I am hooking up with this girl now. I wanna have sex with her, but should I tell her about the smallness and skinniness of my penis. What should I do? Also, my testes are not too big either, but there is hair on my sack. Is this normal, or whatever? Help me. Thanks.

Dear Worried About The Skinniness Of Penis,
You do not have to do anything because everything you described sounds normal and average. If you read TeenHealthFX's responses to Penis Size and Average Testes Size you will see that there is nothing to worry about.
Hair on the scrotum is a sign that you are well into puberty. Your testicles may continue to grow until your body is fully mature. Having little armpit hair has no connection to your penis or testes size. Some men simply have a lot of hair and some men do not. It is all up to genetics.
Now that you are "hooking up" and want to have sex, you should start thinking about the responsibility that goes along with it. You need to practice safer sex, which means using birth control and taking precautions against sexually transmitted diseases by using a condom. TeenHealthFX encourages you to go to a teen health clinic in your area to discuss safer sex and birth control. Teen health clinics can see teens for sexual health concerns without their parent's permission, confidentially and on a low or no cost basis.
If you live in northern New Jersey and have sexual matters you would like to discuss, you can call the Adolescent/Young Adult Center For Health at 973.889.6350 for an appointment. Outside of New Jersey, please call your local Planned Parenthood.
