It is not weird, it is simply a preference. You might want to check out TeenHealthFX's response to Shaving Pubic Hair for some helpful hints. Even though the response was written for a female there is plenty of information there that would be useful for males.
Also, just a note: Please be careful during shaving, especially around your testicles so you do not cut yourself. The skin on your testicles is very soft and TeenHealthFX recommends that you not use a razor on them directly.
