Dear TeenHealthFX,
I am over weight please help me slim down. I would like to lose 100 lbs. by fall 2002! I know it takes awhile to loose it, but I am giving it some time. I will be in high school next year and I don't want to go in looking like a blob. Please help me out by posting tips and things that I can do. Like I say, I'm giving it some time! I want to wear those cute, tight 'n sexy clothes w/o all my fat wrinkles that are so embarrassing! Thanks!

Dear P.H.A.T. Girl,
TeenHealthFX is a bit concerned about why it is that you want to lose weight. There is a lot of peer pressure placed on both women and men to look, dress and weigh a certain amount. However, these are not realistic goals for everyone. So before you decide to diet, evaluate why you are loosing weight and see a doctor. You also should be aware of your Appropriate Height & Weight.
Take a look at some of the questions that TeenHealthFX has answered on this subject. Also, do a search of the website using keywords diet or exercise.
TeenHealthFX always recommends eating healthy and regular exercise as the best method for losing weight. In your case, since you want to lose such a significant amount of weight we advise you to see your doctor and a nutritionist. It is important because they can evaluate your weight loss needs and provide you with a healthy way of doing it. They can make sure you are losing the weight you need to and that you are not depriving your self of the proper nutrients that are essential to someone your age. A nutritionist will help you learn the proper foods to eat and how to develop healthy eating habits. Your doctor will be able to monitor your progress to make sure every thing is going according to plan.
If you would like to meet with a doctor and nutritionist from the Adolescent/Young Adult Center For Health in Morristown, New Jersey, you can call 973.971.6475 for an appointment.
