I am a 13 year old that has lost 40 pounds in 6 months. I am wondering what kind and how much exercise is good for me.

TeenHealthFX is concerned about the large amount of weight you have lost in such a short period of time. You are still young and growing and it is important that your body is getting the proper amount of vitamins and nutrients to keep your body growing strong. TeenHealthFX suggests that you see your doctor about your weight loss. He or she will be able to tell you what kind of a diet is healthiest for you.

Exercise is a great way to keep our bodies healthy. It should be done 3-4 times a week for about one half hour at a time. The amount and intensity of the exercise that is done is different for everyone. Leave it up to your body to tell you how much is too much. Listen closely to your body. It will let you know when it is tired or sore or has had too much. Do not over do it! Also consult your doctor before starting a regular exercise regime. Exercise should be fun and a way to let off steam and enjoy yourself.
