Dear TeenHealthFX,

Dear Asthma And Sports,

There are many athletes who have asthma and do participate regularly in sports. But it is important to do so only under the supervision and guidance of a medical professional who can determine for sure what you can and cannot do with your condition. If you have not already, it would be a good idea to make an appointment with a doctor to assess your situation and develop a reasonable exercise program for you.

If you do not already have a doctor that you feel comfortable with and live in Northern New Jersey, you can call the call the Adolescent/Young Adult Center for Health at (973) 971.6475 for an appointment. In the meantime, for more information on this subject, have a look at our answer to Basketball Player Who Needs Help getting In Shape With Asthma
