Dear Love Fried Foods & Red Meat - Heart Risk?,

It is very rare for a 13-year-old to have serious heart problems.  However, you are right in assuming that fried foods and red meat are not heart-healthy foods.  If you indulge in foods like that often, and continue to do so for years to come, as you get older you could suffer from heart problems.  In addition, those foods can cause weight gain, which can also contribute to heart problems.

The key to eating healthy eating healthy is moderation.  It is OK to indulge in the occasional burger or fries, as long as those items are not a regular part of your diet.
