Shorty

Dear TeenHealthFX,
Hi, I'm an 18 yr old female who is a severe asthmatic. I got it when I was very young and they put me on prednisone. Basically, I was on it for 5 yrs. As a result it stunted my growth to make me grow too fast too soon and I'm only 5 ft. Doctors say I won't grow that much but I was wondering how much will I grow if I do at all. I would like to be seen as an 18 yr. old instead of a 13 yr. especially since I'm going to college next year. Thanks

Dear Shorty,

Unfortunately, most girls are usually finishing puberty around the age of 18, meaning that the chance you will grow any taller is slim. The best thing you can do is try to accept your height as part of who you are and get comfortable with it. Your height does not define you as a person and your height will not stop you from achieving your goals. There are worlds of opportunities just waiting for you in college and beyond.
