Tested Negative for STDs, But My Symptoms Are Not Getting Better
TeenHealthFX is sorry to hear that you are having continued pain. The best course of action right now is to keep that follow-up appointment with your doctor given this last round of antibiotics didn't improve your symptoms. If your doctor still thinks it is prostatitis, there is such thing as non-bacterial prostatitis that is due to inflammation rather than bacteria so it responds to anti-inflammatories rather than antibiotics. However, your doctor is the best one to give you an accurate diagnosis. If your doctor is at a loss of where to go from here or if you want a second opinion, you could make an appointment with a urologist as they specialize in the urinary tract and male reproductive tract. TeenHealthFX would also recommend that you abstain from sex until you figure out exactly what is going on, especially if you are having continued pain. Hopefully the cause can be figured out soon so you can receive treatment that will alleviate your symptoms.
If you don't have a doctor and live in northern New Jersey, you can call the Adolescent/Young Adult Center for Health at 973-971-5199 for an appointment with an adolescent medicine specialist or contact your local teen health center or Planned Parenthood. You can also contact your insurance company for a list of in-network providers.
