Apri Birth Control - Started The Wrong Pill

Published: May 14, 2012
Dear Apri Birth Control - Started The Wrong Pill,

1) I have been taking Apri birth control (desogestrel and ethinyl estradiol .15mg/.03mg) for about 7 months now and ever since I started it I accidently started the wrong pill.. like the 1st row i started on the 4th pill being Wednesday ( I recently foundout that you are supposed to start on Sunday the 1st pill and just change the label above. I do however get my period on the 4th white pill which would be 21 days from the other pills (which is normal time). I was wondering, since I started wrong, and still take it wrong, does that make my chances higher of becoming pregnant? and if so, how much? 2) And i've recently changed to the same dosage just generic Reclipsen BC would that also make it less effective my first month of this brand?

Dear Apri Birth Control - Started The Wrong Pill,

TeenHealthFX appreciates your concerns, but your questions can be best answered by the doctor who has been prescribing your birth control. Your doctor should have explained to you how to use the pills – so once your doctor is aware of the current problem he/she can decide on the plan, do a pregnancy test if necessary, and answer all of your questions.
