Bumps Inside My Vagina - Is This Normal?

Published: April 27, 2017
Dear TeenHealthFX,

I'm 15 and a virgin. When I insert a finger into my vagina, I can feel bumps for about an inch and then it becomes smooth. Is this normal?

Dear Bumps Inside My Vagina - Is This Normal?,

The bumps that you are feeling could be totally normal and just the way your tissue is inside the vagina. If there was some kind of infection, or some other medical issue, there would likely be other symptoms that you would be aware of. TeenHealthFX recommends that you bring this up with your primary care physician or adolescent medicine specialist at your next well visit.

If you don't have a doctor and live in northern New Jersey, you can call the Adolescent/Young Adult Center for Health at 973-971-5199 for an appointment with an adolescent medicine specialist or contact your local teen health center or Planned Parenthood. You can also contact your insurance company for a list of in-network providers.
