Dear Does Obesity Affect Penis Girth?,

Obesity does not affect the size of your penis – length or girth. The size of your penis is determined by genetics. Just as you inherit genes from your parents that determine the color of your hair, skin and eyes, you have inherited genes that determine what the length and girth of your penis will be. What some overweight men might experience is that their penises look smaller because of imbalanced proportions of the body.

Penises come in all sizes and there isn’t a normal size for any particular age. And no matter what your length or girth is, it doesn’t take anything away from how desirable you are or how much of a man you are. However, TeenHealthFX can certainly appreciate that this can be a very sensitive topic for many young men. So if you have any further questions or concerns, we recommend you speak with your doctor to get some guidance and support of how to deal with this issue. If you don't have a doctor and live in northern New Jersey, you can call the Adolescent/Young Adult Center for Health at 973-971-5199 for an appointment with an adolescent medicine specialist or contact your local teen health center or Planned Parenthood. You can also contact your insurance company for a list of in-network providers.
