Dear Best Time To Take A Pregnancy Test,

Although most home pregnancy testing kits work the same it is important that you correctly follow the directions on the package.  The optimal time is the day after your period is due and during the first morning urine. The reason for you to wait until you have missed at least one day of your period is because that is the first indication that you may be pregnant. Home pregnancy tests use your urine to look for human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG). HCG is a hormone produced in the placenta after a female becomes pregnant. The amount of HGC increases as the pregnancy continues. If you use a pregnancy test to early your body may not produced enough of the HCG to show up which could lead to a false negative result. This would mean you are pregnant and not realize it.

From what you described it appears that you took the test in the proper time framework. However, since you are worried it might be a good idea to repeat the home test or have a blood test done by a medical professional. In fact it would be a good idea to make an appointment with your doctor, Planned Parenthood or a local clinic. Even though this time might have been only a scare the next time may not. It is important that you use a method of birth control and condoms to prevent pregnancy and Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD’s).
