Is it true that if a girl doesn't have an orgasm during sex that she can't get pregnant?

Dear Is It True That A Girl Can't Get Pregnant Unless She Has An Orgasm?,

That is absolutely NOT true. A female having an orgasm (or not) has absolutely nothing to do with whether or not an egg will be fertilized and will result in pregnancy. If you want a 100% guarantee that pregnancy will not occur, then you need to practice abstinence. If you plan on being sexually active, you can protect yourself from unwanted pregnancies by using birth control. It is recommended for teens to us condoms each and every time they have sex, as well as a back-up method of birth control such as the pill or birth control shot. Your doctor will be able to make the best recommendations for you. If you don't have a doctor and live in northern New Jersey, you can call the Adolescent/Young Adult Center for Health at 973-971-5199 for an appointment with an adolescent medicine specialist or contact your local teen health center or Planned Parenthood. You can also contact your insurance company for a list of in-network providers.

For more information on what causes pregnancy to occur, you can read Planned Parenthood’s article, How Pregnancy Happens.
