Does Pre Cum Happen Everytime

Published: September 30, 2013
Dear TeenHealthFX,

I was wondering about pre-ejaculatory fluid and when I masturbate I don't see anything. Does pre-cum come out every time a guy is aroused and or about to ejaculate? Also, afterwards I have a urge to urinate is this normal?

Dear Does Pre Cum Happen Everytime,

It is very unusual for a man not to have some amount of pre-ejaculatory.

Pre-ejaculatory fluid also known as “pre-cum” is the clear, colorless, sticky fluid that is emitted from the urethra of a man’s penis when he is sexually aroused. The fluid is usually secreted by what is known as the Cowper’s glands during arousal, masturbation, foreplay or at an early stage during sex, some time before the man fully reaches orgasm and semen is ejaculated. The amount of pre-ejaculatory fluid present among males varies widely from person to person, from a minimal amount to a significant flow. The fluid can also range in appearance from a whitish color to a clear liquid that is barely noticeable.

It is important to be aware that sperm can be present in these fluids, as well as the HIV virus. That said, if two people having sexual intercourse are relying on the withdrawal method (where the male withdraws his penis prior to ejaculation; also known as “pulling out”) to practice safer sex, there are definitely higher risks of unwanted pregnancy occurring or of transmitting an STD than if a condom was used.

Quite a few men have to urinate after sex. It's nothing to worry about. Besides a full bladder it is also due to the fact that there is a little seminal fluid still left in the urinary pipe and that creates a sensation of fullness
