Dear I'm Not Sure Who the Father of My Baby Is,

According to the American Pregnancy Association, determining the conception date may provide pregnant women who have had sex with more than one man in a short period of time a good idea of who the biological father is, especially when intercourse with the different men occurred at least 10 days apart. If your doctor said the conception date was around January 27th, then the man you had sex with on the 27th would more likely be the father. Since the man you had sex with around January 20th pulled out prior to ejaculation, and the man you had sex with on the 27th ejaculated inside you, the odds of pregnancy would also be much greater with the man who ejaculated inside of you. While it seems more likely that the man you had sex with on the 27th is the father, keep in mind that the only sure way to know would be through DNA testing.

Since you have already met with a doctor, TeenHealthFX recommends that you discuss this matter with him/her. FX also wants to stress the importance of pre-natal care to ensure the health of you and your baby. You can visit your doctor or going to a local Planned Parenthood health center for pre-pregnancy care.

TeenHealthFX would also like to encourage you to speak to your doctor about safer sex precautions for the future. Doctors generally recommend that teens and young adults who choose to be sexually active use condoms each and every time they have sex to protect against unwanted pregnancies and the transmission of STDs, as well as a back-up method of birth control such as the pill or birth control shot. Your doctor can make the best recommendations for you and discuss with you how to use properly use birth control to maximize its effectiveness.

FX also suggests that you check out the links in our Resource of the Month: Planned Parenthood Resources on Safer Sex so that you can learn about sexual readiness, how pregnancy happens, pregnancy tests, emergency contraception, birth control, STDs and more. The more educated you are about these topics, the more likely you will make healthy decisions for yourself when it comes to your sexual health.
